How to Keep Evil Spirits Out of Your House

Paint your porch ceiling blue. That should do the trick. Yep, that's pretty much all you need to keep evil spirits away.

“Haint blue” porch ceilings are an old Southern tradition, where a pale “sky blue" paint color is used on porch ceilings to ward off evil spirits, known as "haints." From what I’ve read, this particular folklore originated from the idea that haints cannot cross water, so the blue color tricks them into thinking the ceiling is water or the sky, preventing them from entering your home (at least through the front porch). Some folks say the color also helps deter insects like spiders and birds from building nests.

I mention this today because yesterday the people at Westlake Royal sent me a press announcement about the company’s new “Haint Blue” color for its 6-inch Reversible Beadboard/V-Groove Profile, “inspired by the century-old Southern tradition of painting porch ceilings blue.”

“Rooted in Southern tradition, this hue brings a sense of comfort and character to outdoor spaces, while the profile’s versatile design meets the needs of both classic and contemporary aesthetics,” says Steve Booz, vice president of marketing at Westlake Royal Building Products.

Here’s the list of selling points:

·                 Reversible – Beadboard/V-Groove

·                 Low Maintenance cellular PVC – no painting required

·                 Moisture and termite proof

·                 Small unit size with sub bundled packs within for protection at the jobsite

·                 Made in the USA

But shockingly…. Stunningly…. There is ZERO mention of the product’s obvious NUMBER ONE SELLING POINT: Its ability to keep evil spirits out of your home!

What a glaring omission! What a lost marketing opportunity!

Lucky for you, constant reader, there are people like me who spend their free time writing oddball horror/thriller books and have done the proper research to share with you this crucial knowledge so that you can protect your home from evil.

You’ll thank me later.

The post was interesting because it shares different beliefs and traditions people use to keep negative energy away from their homes. I liked reading about how culture and old practices shape these ideas. While writing a small culture assignment on traditional beliefs, I once used Assignment Editing Service UK because my draft needed clearer wording. It helped improve my explanation. It reminded me how traditions often reflect what people value about safety and peace at home.
